Reception Desk
A reception desk has two audiences. The visitor at the door sees a brand mark. The receptionist behind it needs space for a monitor, a card reader, a label printer and a wired drop. Zumax builds three forms for that job: single-arc, boat-form and a sculptural dual-station counter. Faces are sand-finish stone, ribbed walnut veneer sourced from Bhutan Tuff, high-pressure laminate or branded HPL, all sitting on an internal steel chassis so a stone face does not flex over time. Backlit brand fascia is an option, dimmable at 3000K or 4000K, with the LED driver tucked behind an access flap on the receptionist side. Cable runs through a floor cut-out or the rear wall. It never drops down a visible leg. Desks are made to order at our 60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop. Zumax has been building furniture since 2008. Delivery and installation are free within Delhi NCR; outside NCR is partner-handled and billed as actuals.

Inside Delhi NCR the in-house Zumax crew on payroll handles delivery and install free. The steel chassis carries a 100-hour salt-spray powder coat, and the laminate fronts are EN 438 / IS 2046 grade.

The workshop runs to ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) standards, with GreenGuard and FSC-certified inputs available on the veneer and laminate lines on request.

A surveyor arrives with a laser distance meter, tablet and material samples. They confirm lobby width, floor cut-out feasibility for cable, ceiling and wall conditions for the fascia driver, and pull a 200-plus swatch library for finish sign-off.

Our in-house CAD studio renders the desk in your lobby, with the brand fascia at 3000K and 4000K, the receptionist-side equipment zone and the cable route marked. Revisions are included until the layout is signed off.

Once the layout is locked, the Business Coordinator Team issues a written quote against the exact dimensions, face material, station count and fascia spec. No design fee is charged at any stage.

15-day build at the Greater Noida workshop
The desk is built at our 60,000 sq.ft workshop in Greater Noida. The steel chassis, stone or veneer face, FRLS cable trays and LED driver compartment are assembled in-house. No sub-assemblies are outsourced and nothing is white-labelled.

On-site install with 10-year workmanship cover
Within NCR the in-house Zumax crew handles delivery and installation free of cost. Outside NCR a Zumax-supervised partner crew installs, with logistics billed as actuals. Install runs about two hours for a single-arc and four to five hours for a dual-station boat-form with fascia wiring, under a 10-year workmanship cover.
What goes into a Zumax reception desk
- Internal steel chassis
- Every stone-fronted or curved-top desk sits on an internal steel chassis, with MDF used only as a substrate. The frame is finished with a 100-hour salt-spray powder coat from Paramount or AkzoNobel so the structure does not flex or rust over a long service life.
- Walnut veneer face (Bhutan Tuff)
- Ribbed walnut veneer is sourced from Bhutan Tuff and laid over a 25 mm engineered core. It is finished with a low-VOC sealer that takes a soft wipe-down without raising grain, and the rib pattern is cut on our own CNC, not bought in.
- Sand-finish stone or quartz top
- Stone and quartz tops are sourced through the Hafele partner stone yard. We carry the slab on the internal steel chassis rather than the substrate, which is why a 12-foot stone counter does not develop a fracture line at the seam two summers in.
- High-pressure laminate fronts
- When a budget asks for HPL instead of stone or veneer, we use EN 438 / IS 2046 grade laminate from the Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch range, including the anti-microbial line for healthcare and hospitality lobbies. Edge banding is heat-fused, not glued, so it does not lift in monsoon humidity.
- Hardware (Hettich + Hafele / Ebco)
- Receptionist-side drawers and access flaps run on Hettich soft-close runners, with Salice, Grass or Blum on some lines. The cash drawer and storage lock is a lever lock and bolt set sourced from Hafele or Ebco.
- Backlit brand fascia + FRLS cable trays
- The brand mark is CNC-cut from the front panel material and lit by a dimmable LED strip at 3000K or 4000K, with the driver tucked behind an access flap on the receptionist side. Inside the desk, FRLS-grade trays keep monitor, card-reader, label-printer and network cables routed separately from power.

What is the standard height of a reception desk in India?
The receptionist work surface sits at 740 to 760 mm, the same as a regular desk, so the chair and monitor stay ergonomic over an eight-hour shift. The visitor-side counter sits higher, at 1100 to 1150 mm, which gives a clean sight-line over the monitor and a writing ledge for signing in. Zumax cuts a 760 mm dual-level segment on every desk for wheelchair-height check-in.
How are Zumax reception desks quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on counter length, face material (HPL, walnut veneer or sand-finish stone), station count and whether the brand fascia is backlit. Send the lobby plan and the Business Coordinator Team will revert with a written quote within 24 to 48 hours, against your exact dimensions and finish brief.
What is the difference between a curved, L-shape and straight reception desk?
A straight desk is the most space-efficient and suits narrow lobbies under 4 metres wide. An L-shape adds a return for a second receptionist, storage or a check-in ledge, which is what hotel lobbies and multi-staff corporate fronts usually want. A curved or arc desk is sculptural and opens sight-lines across a wide atrium, because the front face is built up in segments rather than bent.
Can the reception desk carry a backlit company logo or brand signage?
Yes. We cut the brand fascia from the front panel material and backlight it with a dimmable LED strip at 3000K (warm) or 4000K (neutral). The driver and dimmer sit in an access compartment on the receptionist side, so the brand mark can be dimmed during off-hours without calling an electrician.
How is cable management handled on a stone or curved reception desk?
Cable for the monitor, card reader, label printer and network drop runs through a floor cut-out where the building has a raised access floor, or through a rear-wall conduit where it does not. Inside the desk, FRLS-grade trays keep power and data separated. None of the cable shows on the visitor side. That is the spec we build to as standard.
What is the lead time for a made-to-order reception desk?
Lead time is 15 days from order confirmation. Tier-2 city deliveries add 2 to 3 days. After the survey, we share a 2D or 3D layout within 5 working days, and the written quote turns around in 24 to 48 hours. The slot in the Greater Noida workshop is held the moment the PO drops, so the date does not slip between sales and dispatch.
Do you deliver and install in Delhi NCR?
Free delivery and on-site installation are included across Delhi NCR, handled by the in-house Zumax crew on payroll. Outside NCR is handled by Zumax-supervised partner crews, with logistics billed as actuals on each order. Average on-site time is two hours for a single-station arc desk and four to five hours for a dual-station boat-form counter with brand fascia wiring.
What warranty applies to a Zumax reception desk?
Two years on manufacturing defects, covering the frame, work surface, face material (stone, veneer, HPL or laminate) and the LED brand fascia install. Workmanship cover on the installation runs 10 years.
Looking after your Zumax reception desk
Wipe both the visitor-side face and the receptionist work surface with a soft damp cloth and a pH-neutral cleaner. Skip abrasive scouring pads, ammonia and bleach on stone, veneer and laminate alike.
On the sand-finish stone face, blot spilled water, tea or coffee within a minute rather than smearing it. The sand finish is sealed but a long-sitting puddle on an unsealed corner can mark.
Run a drop of light machine oil into the Hettich drawer runners and the lever lock once every six months so the soft-close action and the bolt stay smooth across an eight-hour shift.
Dim the LED fascia from the receptionist-side switch during off-hours instead of cutting power at the breaker. The driver lasts longer when it is not cold-started every morning.
Once a year, lift the cable access flap and clear dust off the FRLS trays and the LED driver compartment. It keeps heat down and the fascia colour temperature consistent.
