Zumax's own install crew handles every NCR fit. Anti-microbial HPL on the reading decks is certified to EN 438 / IS 2046, a real standard reference rather than a marketing label.

1. Free 30-minute planning call
Tell us the venue (auditorium, classroom, chapel, boardroom), how many lecterns you need and whether AV fit-out is in scope. We map your usage to the right model mix before anyone leaves the office.

2. Free site survey at the venue
An NCR site visit is free; venues outside NCR are surveyed by a Zumax-supervised partner with laser distance meter, tablet and material samples. Stage height, lighting throw, mic feed and socket pickup are all noted on the spot.

3. Free 2D / 3D layout in 5 working days
Our in-house CAD studio (three designers) returns a renders pack showing each lectern in your hall, with crest-plate placement and cable routing called out. Revisions are included, no design fee at any stage.

4. Written quote in 24-48 hours
Once the layout is signed off, a fixed-price BOQ follows within 24-48 hours from our Business Coordinator Team. The quote names every supplier line (Hettich, Marino/Greenlam/Royal Touch, Paramount/AkzoNobel) so procurement can verify against the PO.

5. 15-day build at our Greater Noida workshop
All four lecterns are fabricated in our 60,000 sq.ft facility at Udyog Kendra I, Ecotech III. No outsourced sub-assemblies. A 30-minute workshop tour is open to buyers who want to inspect their batch before despatch.

6. Install + 2-year defect cover
Zumax's own crew installs within Delhi NCR. Outside NCR, a Zumax-supervised partner crew handles the fit. Workmanship cover runs 10 years; manufacturing-defect warranty on the lectern body runs 2 years, with parts stocked at Greater Noida and a 7-day ship promise.
What goes into a Zumax podium
- 1.2mm CRCA powder-coated steel frame
- The Z-shape metal lectern is fabricated from 1.2mm cold-rolled CRCA sheet, then powder-coated with Paramount or AkzoNobel paint. The finish is 100-hour salt-spray tested, which matters in coastal-city auditoriums where humidity strips weaker coatings inside a season.
- 19mm pre-laminated MDF body
- The wooden, full-body and tall church-style lecterns use 19mm pre-laminated MDF on the body and 18mm BWP plywood from Greenply or Century on load-bearing carcass walls. Edges are banded with matching ABS for impact resistance under daily speaker traffic.
- Anti-microbial HPL reading deck
- Reading decks and side panels use high-pressure laminate from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch, certified to EN 438 / IS 2046. The anti-microbial surface resists cigarette burns, ink and standard disinfectants, so shared-use podiums stay hygienic between speakers.
- Hettich concealed hinges + soft-close
- Every enclosed lectern door runs on Hettich concealed hinges with soft-close action. Drawer runners on the storage compartment are Hettich full-extension, rated for daily access to the principal's or chairperson's notes.
- Hafele or Ebco lock set
- Lockable storage uses a lever lock and bolt set sourced from Hafele or Ebco, the same hardware spec we run on our office storage line. Two keys ship with every podium and replacement cylinders are stocked at Greater Noida.
- AV fit-out: 6A socket + cable tray
- The Z-shape and full-body models ship with an internal cable tray, top-deck grommet, 6A India-spec power socket and a gooseneck-mic cut-out. Optional VESA mount carries a 21-32" touchscreen for CBSE and IB smart-classroom briefs.

What is the difference between a podium and a lectern?
Strictly speaking, a podium is the raised platform a speaker stands on. A lectern is the slanted stand they read from. In Indian school and auditorium procurement, the two words get used interchangeably for the speaker's stand. All four Zumax "podium" models are technically lecterns, which is what buyers actually search for when they look for a "school podium" or "auditorium podium" in India.
How are Zumax school podiums quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after we understand your requirement, since it depends on the model (wooden, metal Z-shape or full-body enclosed), finish, lock spec and AV fit-out. Send your dimensions and configuration on the contact form and we will revert with a written quote within 24-48 hours. A 2D / 3D layout follows in 5 working days after the site survey.
Which podium is best for a school auditorium?
For a school auditorium running assembly, prize day and inter-school events, we suggest the Enclosed Lectern (full-body wood finish) on the main stage and a portable Compact Lectern with Shelf as backup. The full-body model gives you a school-crest plate area, lockable storage for the principal's notes and a cable cut-out for the mic.
Can the podium be customised with our school logo or crest?
Yes. We CNC-engrave or fit a brass or acrylic crest plate to the front panel in your school colours. Lead time on a crested podium is 15 days from artwork sign-off. For colleges and universities, we also do edge-lit acrylic crests on the metal Z-shape model.
Does the podium come with a microphone and power socket?
The Modern Metal Lectern (Z-Shape) and the Enclosed Lectern ship with a gooseneck-mic cut-out, internal cable tray and a 6A India-spec power socket as standard. Wireless mic, amplifier and 65" display mount are paid add-ons. We do not bundle the mic itself by default, since most institutions specify their own Ahuja or Shure unit.
What is the warranty on a Zumax lectern?
Two years on manufacturing defects, covering the frame, joinery and lock body. Wear on the laminate top is not covered, but the top is field-replaceable in under 30 minutes by our service team. Replacement parts are stocked at the Greater Noida workshop and ship in 7 working days.
Do you deliver podiums across India?
Yes. Standard lead time is 15 days from order confirmation, plus 2-3 days for Tier-2 cities. In-stock SKUs ship in 24 hours within Delhi NCR, subject to availability. Free delivery and on-site installation are included within Delhi NCR only. Outside NCR we route through supervised partner crews, with logistics billed as actuals.
Can the lectern be height-adjusted for shorter speakers and children?
The Compact Lectern with Shelf is offered in two fixed heights: 1100mm for primary and 1200mm for secondary and staff. The Modern Metal Z-shape lectern is available in a Samhongsa gas-lift height-adjustable variant (1050-1250mm) on request. The full-body enclosed model stays fixed at 1200mm so the internal storage remains usable.
Is the surface finish safe for daily classroom use?
Yes. Reading decks and side panels use anti-microbial high-pressure laminate from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch, certified to EN 438 / IS 2046. The finish resists burns, stains and scratches, and wipes clean with a standard disinfectant. That matters for shared-use podiums in schools running post-COVID protocols.
Do you also supply digital / smart podiums with touchscreens?
We currently offer the AV-ready Z-shape metal lectern with mic, sockets and a VESA mount for a 21-32" touchscreen, which is what most CBSE and IB schools pick. A fully integrated smart podium with built-in amplifier, document camera and 22" touch-monitor is available on project quotation.
Looking after your Zumax podium
Wipe the laminate reading deck and side panels with a damp microfibre cloth and a mild disinfectant. Skip abrasive scourers and solvent-based cleaners; they dull the anti-microbial finish over time.
Lubricate the Hettich hinges and Hafele or Ebco lock cylinder with a light dry-film lubricant once every six months. Avoid oily sprays that attract dust inside the lock body.
Keep the powder-coated steel Z-frame dry. If a spill lands on the coat, blot dry within the hour; standing moisture is what eventually triggers edge corrosion even on a 100-hour salt-spray finish.
Run the AV cabling cleanly through the internal tray and grommet. Loose cables looped over the deck edge are the main reason laminate edge bands chip on shared-use podiums.
Tighten the four base screws on the tall church-style lectern once a term. A slender freestanding lectern lives or dies on its base joint staying snug.
