Zumax has been building ergonomic chairs since 2008 for the way Indian offices actually run, with humid HVAC cycles, two-shift campuses, and procurement teams who want a spec sheet rather than a brochure. Every chair we make uses a BIFMA X5.1-tested synchro-tilt mechanism, a Samhongsa gas lift, an adjustable lumbar carriage, and a base in polished aluminium or glass-filled nylon. Powder-coated metalwork uses Paramount or AkzoNobel paint, salt-spray tested for 100 hours. Warranty is one year, handled by Zumax directly on a replacement basis.

Zumax Equipments Pvt. Ltd. has been making modular and institutional furniture in Greater Noida since 2008. Office seating has been part of the line from the start, so the cycle counts come from years of two-shift campus use, not a marketing deck.
60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop
Every chair is built at our own 60,000 sq.ft facility at 221/1, Udyog Kendra I, Ecotech III, Greater Noida. No outsourced sub-assemblies, no white-labelled imports, and replacement-part stock sits on the same floor as the build line.
Samhongsa, AkzoNobel, Paramount
Gas lifts come from Samhongsa, powder coat from Paramount or AkzoNobel salt-spray tested for 100 hours. These are the parts that decide whether a chair lasts five years or three, so we name them on the quote.
One-year warranty, replacement basis
One year on the chair, handled by Zumax directly on a replacement basis with no field repair. Castors are not covered. The warranty is short, but it's honoured in-house with parts in stock at Greater Noida.
BIFMA X5.1 + NCR own crew
Mechanism and chassis tested to ANSI/BIFMA X5.1; delivery and assembly free within Delhi NCR using our in-house crew. Outside NCR is handled by Zumax-supervised partner crews and billed as actuals.
ISO 9001 + ISO 14001 certified
The workshop runs to ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management systems, with GreenGuard and FSC certifications applicable on relevant lines. GeM, BIS and BIFMA documents are shared with bulk procurement teams on request.

- BIFMA X5.1-tested synchro-tilt mechanism
- The mechanism, base and chassis are tested to ANSI/BIFMA X5.1, the standard institutional buyers and GeM listings reference. Synchro-tilt carries a 3-position lock plus tension control and the cycle test documentation is shared with bulk procurement teams on request.
- Samhongsa Class-4 gas lift
- Every Zumax chair runs a Samhongsa gas lift with an anti-blowback collar, the same gas-lift supplier used by serious institutional seating across Asia. This is the part most catalogue chairs cut corners on, and it's the part that ends a chair early.
- Elastomeric mesh backrest
- The backrest mesh is elastomeric, not polyester, and is rated for 80,000+ flex cycles. Mesh dissipates heat under HVAC cycling rather than trapping it against the user's back, which is why we default to mesh for any chair sitting through an Indian summer.
- Adjustable lumbar carriage
- A 60 mm vertically travelling lumbar carriage lets each user set the support height at the desk rather than being locked to a factory-set curve. Combined with an integrated headrest on the executive models, it covers the 5th to 95th percentile user range.
- Paramount / AkzoNobel powder coat
- All metal componentry, including the polished aluminium base and any structural brackets, runs a powder coat from Paramount or AkzoNobel and is salt-spray tested for 100 hours. That's the same finish spec we run on our steel almirah line.
- Glass-filled nylon or polished aluminium base
- Task chairs ship on a glass-filled nylon 5-star base; the executive models step up to a polished aluminium die-cast base. Both are tested to the BIFMA cycle protocol, and castors are sized to the floor finish on the survey.

Which office chair is best for long working hours in India?
For 8+ hour days in Indian conditions, we recommend a high-back mesh chair with an adjustable lumbar carriage, an adjustable headrest and at least 3D armrests. Mesh outperforms foam-back here because it dissipates heat instead of trapping it under the user's back, which matters once HVAC starts cycling.
Do Zumax chairs come with adjustable lumbar support and headrest?

What is the difference between a task chair and an executive chair?
A task chair is a mid-back chair sized for an 8-hour workstation shift, with synchro-tilt, 3D arms and no headrest. An executive chair adds a high-back profile, an integrated headrest, 4D arms in most cases, and a polished aluminium base for cabin and boardroom use. The ergonomic standards are identical; the proportions and finishes are different.
How do Zumax chairs compare to off-the-shelf catalogue brands?

Looking after your Zumax office chair
Wipe the mesh with a dry microfibre cloth weekly. For visible dust, use a soft brush attachment on a vacuum at low setting. Skip wet wipes and abrasive cleaners; they degrade the elastomeric weave over time.
Spot-clean fabric and leather upholstery with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Air-dry, never heat-dry. Re-upholstery service is available from year five onwards on our soft seating lines if the upholstery starts to show wear.
Lubricate the castor stems and arm pivots every six months with a light silicone spray. Avoid oil-based lubricants — they pick up dust and gum the mechanism.
Reset the synchro-tilt tension once a quarter for users who change. Lumbar height and arm position should be set at the desk by each user, not pre-loaded at the factory.
