Sliding Door
Sliding wardrobes are the right call for any bedroom that can't spare 700 mm of door-swing in front of the closet. Zumax has been building made-to-wall wardrobes since 2008. Two panels work for openings under six feet; three or four panels cover anything wider. Hardware is Hettich top-hung track with soft-close stops, and the interior is laid out around the clothes you actually own. Shutters can be cane, light-oak veneer sourced from Bhutan Tuff, walnut, smoked Saint-Gobain glass, or full-length mirror, all on a BWP-grade plywood carcass from Greenply or Century that survives Indian humidity. We build in our 60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop, survey on site, and fit the unit 15 days from order confirmation, subject to site readiness (paint and electrical).

What you get with Zumax
Building wardrobes since 2008
Zumax Equipments Pvt. Ltd. has been making modular furniture since 2008. Sliding wardrobes have been on the workshop floor from year one, so the install detailing is sorted.
60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop
Every carcass, shutter and track is cut, edge-banded and pre-assembled in our own 60,000 sq.ft workshop in Greater Noida. No outsourced sub-assemblies, no white-labelled imports.
Hettich, Saint-Gobain, Bhutan Tuff named on the BOM
Tracks and runners are Hettich. Glass and mirror are Saint-Gobain or AIS tempered. Veneer is Bhutan Tuff and laminate is Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch — the brands are written into the quote.
10-year wardrobe warranty
Every Zumax sliding wardrobe carries a flat 10-year warranty on the carcass and shutters, plus a 10-year workmanship cover on the install. One number, no tiered split.
NCR crew on payroll
Inside Delhi NCR, the install is handled by Zumax's own crew on payroll, with one project manager per job. Outside NCR, Zumax-supervised partner crews handle the fit and are billed as actuals.
ISO 9001 + 14001 certified
The workshop runs to ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environment) standards, with GreenGuard and FSC certifications on the relevant ply and veneer lines.
How a Zumax sliding wardrobe order runs
- 1
1. Free 30-minute planning call
Share the room dimensions, the opening width, and what's going inside (saree stacks, hanging suits, shoes, jewellery). The Business Coordinator Team scopes the brief and books a survey slot.
- 2
2. Free on-site survey with laser measure
The surveyor arrives in NCR with a laser distance meter, tablet and a material samples kit. Wall, floor and ceiling are checked for square, plumb and dip, since sliding tracks need a flat run.
- 3
3. Free 2D / 3D layout in 5 working days
Our in-house CAD studio drafts the wardrobe with shutter splits, interior bays, drawer count and LED placement. You sign off the drawing before any board is cut.
- 4
4. Written quote in 24-48 hours
The Business Coordinator Team sends a written, line-item quote against the signed-off drawing. Hardware, shutter material and finish are itemised so there are no surprises later.
- 5
5. 15-day build at our Greater Noida workshop
Carcass, shutters and tracks are cut and assembled in our 60,000 sq.ft workshop. No outsourced sub-assemblies, no white-labelled imports — the whole wardrobe is built under one roof.
- 6
6. In-house Zumax crew installs
Inside NCR, the Zumax crew fits the wardrobe on site, levels the track and tunes the soft-close. Outside NCR, a Zumax-supervised partner crew handles the fit. Either way, the install carries a 10-year workmanship cover.
What goes into a Zumax sliding wardrobe
- BWP-grade plywood carcass
- 18 mm BWP (Boiling Water Proof) plywood from Greenply or Century, conforming to IS:710. The back panel is 12 mm BWR ply, not 6 mm prelam, so the unit doesn't bow through a Delhi monsoon or a Mumbai season.
- Hettich top-hung track
- Top-hung Hettich sliding system rated for 80 kg per panel, with soft-close dampers at both ends. Some lines also carry Salice, Grass or Blum runners for the internal drawer units.
- Saint-Gobain glass shutters
- Smoked, lacquered or back-painted glass panels are 5 mm Saint-Gobain or AIS tempered, framed in an aluminium U-channel. Mirror shutters use the same float-glass spec with a vinyl safety film backing.
- Bhutan Tuff veneer and named laminates
- Veneer shutters are sourced from Bhutan Tuff in light-oak or walnut, finished in PU. Laminate shutters take EN 438 / IS 2046 grade sheets from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch with edge-banded sides.
- PIR-triggered LED interior strip
- A motion-sensor LED strip is pre-fitted into the top rail of the hanging bay, wired during the workshop build. No separate electrician callout on site.
- Locks and pulls from Hafele or Ebco
- Where a lockable drawer or jewellery cassette is specified, the lock and bolt set is sourced from Hafele or Ebco. Recessed handles on the shutters are flush-mounted so the track runs clean.
Sliding Door — common questions
Short, specific answers from the Zumax workshop and install team.
Is a sliding door wardrobe a good idea for a small bedroom in India?
Yes, this is where the format earns its keep. Sliding shutters move sideways on a top track, so you need zero clearance in front of the wardrobe. In a typical 3x3.6 m Indian master bedroom, that frees up roughly 0.5 sqm of usable floor. Enough for a bedside drawer unit or a study chair without blocking the door.
Which sliding hardware does Zumax use?
Standard fit is a Hettich top-hung system with soft-close dampers at both ends. Each panel is rated to 80 kg. We do not fit unbranded local tracks.
How are Zumax sliding door wardrobes quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on size, shutter material, internal layout, lighting and hardware. Send the wall dimensions and the Business Coordinator Team will revert with a written quote within 24-48 hours, finalised before production begins.
2 door vs 3 door sliding wardrobe — which should I pick?
Up to 1830 mm (six feet) of wall opening, a 2-door build gives the cleanest look and the simplest track. Beyond that, a 3-door build keeps each panel light enough for daily sliding and gives wider access to interior bays. For walls of 3 m or more, four panels is the right call.
Are mirror sliding wardrobes safe in Indian homes?
Yes. Zumax mirror shutters are 5 mm float glass backed by a vinyl safety film, framed in an aluminium U-channel and locked into the top track. The film holds the glass in place even if it takes an impact, which is the same standard used in commercial fitouts. We do not fit unframed sliding mirrors.
What material is best for a sliding wardrobe in humid conditions?
BWP-grade (Boiling Water Proof) plywood per IS:710 for the carcass, with edge-banded laminate from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch, or PU-finished Bhutan Tuff veneer shutters. Particle board is a hard no for coastal humidity. For the back panel we use 12 mm BWR ply, not 6 mm prelam. That's what stops the unit from bowing over a monsoon.
Can I get a sliding wardrobe with a TV unit or dresser integrated?
Yes. The common integrations are an open dresser bay with a backlit mirror, a pull-out vanity tray, or a fixed central column that holds a TV and a chest of drawers. These are drawn during the free design consultation and built as one carcass, not a wardrobe with a bolt-on attached after.
What is the lead time and installation process?
15 days from order confirmation, subject to site readiness on paint and electrical. The free on-site survey takes 60-90 minutes, 2D/3D drawings are shared within 5 working days, and the in-house Zumax crew fits the unit in NCR. Outside NCR, supervised partner crews handle the fit, billed as actuals. The wardrobe carries a 10-year warranty.
Looking after your Zumax sliding wardrobe
Wipe shutters down with a soft, slightly damp cloth. No abrasive scrubber, no thinner-based cleaner — both will dull the laminate or strip the PU on veneer.
Vacuum the top track every two to three months. Dust build-up is the single biggest cause of sliding panels getting noisy or stiff.
Run a drop of silicone-based hardware lubricant on the Hettich rollers once a year. Avoid grease or WD-40, which collect dust.
Clean mirror and Saint-Gobain glass shutters with a microfibre cloth and a vinegar-water mix; ammonia cleaners attack the aluminium U-channel over time.
If a panel ever feels heavy at one end, call the AMC line for a re-levelling visit — the floor under it has likely settled and the track needs a 2 mm tune.
