Zumax builds school lockers and storage furniture for institutions across India. Founded in 2008, we supply K-12 corridors, hostel blocks, sports complexes, training institutes, and university common rooms. Bodies are welded from 18-gauge CRCA cold-rolled steel or built in 18 mm HPL compact panel. Finish is a powder coat from Paramount or AkzoNobel, 100-hour salt-spray tested, or anti-microbial laminate from Marino, Greenlam, or Royal Touch. Hinges and runners are Hettich. Multi-compartment lockers carry three-point central locking with a master-key set. Locker-bench combinations are sized to NIB seated heights for primary and secondary students. We survey the corridor, draw the layout, manufacture at our 60,000 sq.ft workshop in Greater Noida, and install on site. NCR own crew, 100-hour salt-spray
Zumax own crew installs across Delhi NCR; outside NCR runs through Zumax-supervised partner crews. The powder coat is 100-hour salt-spray tested and laminates reference EN 438 and IS 2046.

Our surveyor visits the campus with a laser distance meter, tablet, and material samples. Corridor walls, plinth heights, skirting, and electrical points are captured so the layout fits the real floor, not a drawing.

The in-house CAD studio returns a corridor layout, unit count, door colour map, and a 3D render of one bay. Two rounds of revisions are included before the BoQ goes out.

What goes into a Zumax locker and storage build
- Steel body
- 18-gauge CRCA cold-rolled steel, welded and ground flush at the joins. This is the same body gauge used across our 10-year almirah line, dialled in for corridor wear and slammed-shut door cycles.
- Powder coat finish
- Paramount or AkzoNobel epoxy-polyester powder coat, oven-cured and 100-hour salt-spray tested. Any RAL or NCS colour is matched in-house, and school crests are screen-printed onto door fronts at no extra cost above 100 units.
- HPL compact panel option
- 18 mm HPL compact panel for changing rooms, pool decks, and wet zones. The compact core does not swell at the cut edge, and the surface laminate is anti-microbial grade from Marino, Greenlam, or Royal Touch.
- Hardware
- Hettich hinges and runners on door and pull-out lines, with Salice, Grass, or Blum on the soft-close credenza shutters. Specified to take a school-year of daily slam-shut without dropping out of alignment.
- Locks and keying
- Three-point central locking on multi-compartment lockers, and lever lock plus bolt set from Hafele or Ebco on single doors with master-key override. Every project ships with a master-key set, a recorded key schedule, and the option to re-key after one academic year.
- Laminate contact surfaces
- Anti-microbial laminate from Marino, Greenlam, or Royal Touch on internal shelves and credenza shutters. Meets EN 438 and IS 2046 for laminate performance, and holds up to wet bag drops and lunchbox spills.

How are Zumax school lockers quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on door count, lock type, finish, and total unit volume. Send the corridor dimensions and the brief, and our Business Coordinator Team will revert with a written quote in 24 to 48 hours. Institutional bulk terms kick in at 50 units, where survey and install are free.
What are standard school locker dimensions used in India?
A standard Indian school locker is roughly 1,200 mm tall x 400 mm wide x 400 mm deep per compartment for full-height units. Half-height corridor lockers run 600 mm tall. Zumax sizes the compartment to the bag and PE kit you specify. Most schools land between 300 mm and 600 mm internal height per door.
Do you make lockers in steel as well as wood and HPL?
Yes. Steel is standard for corridor and hostel use. HPL compact panel goes into changing rooms and pool decks. Wood-front lockers suit primary classrooms where the brief calls for a softer feel. The internal carcass is the same welded frame across all three finishes.
What kind of locking do school lockers from Zumax use?
Three-point central locking on multi-compartment units, lever lock and bolt sets from Hafele or Ebco with master-key on single doors, and optional digital keypad locks on premium hostel builds. Every project ships with a master-key set, a record of key numbers, and the option to re-key the master after one academic year.
Can the locker doors be in school colours?
Yes. Door fronts are powder coated in any RAL or NCS colour you specify, or printed with the school crest at no extra cost on orders above 100 units. Mixed-colour blocks are a popular choice for primary corridors.
Do you supply lockers with attached benches for changing rooms?
Yes. The Locker with Bench and Shoe Storage Unit pairs a half-height locker bank with a slatted hardwood bench and a shoe shelf below. Standard run length is 1,800 mm, and we extend in 600 mm modules. It is a common spec for sports blocks, swimming pools, and hostel changing rooms.
What standards do Zumax institutional lockers reference?
Laminates on contact surfaces are anti-microbial, sourced from Marino, Greenlam, or Royal Touch. Powder coat is 100-hour salt-spray tested. Where the tender asks for BIFMA, our parallel office-chair range is BIFMA X5.1 tested, and we share GeM, BIS, and BIFMA documents with procurement teams on request.
How long does delivery and installation take for a school project?
Standard lead time is 15 days from order confirmation for lockers and institutional storage. Tier-2 city deliveries add 2 to 3 days. Delivery and installation are free within Delhi NCR. Outside NCR, partner crews handle the install under Zumax supervision and logistics are billed as actuals. We schedule installation around school holidays so corridors are not blocked during term.
Do you supply low storage credenzas for staff rooms?
Yes. The Low Storage Credenza with Coloured Doors is a 750 mm high lockable unit used for staff rooms, principal offices, and library counters. It has a powder-coated steel frame with laminate door fronts, Hettich soft-close runners, and a Hafele or Ebco cam lock on each compartment.
Is there a warranty on school lockers and how is it serviced?

Looking after your Zumax lockers and storage
Wipe door fronts and louvred panels with a damp microfibre cloth. Skip scouring pads and chlorine-based cleaners on the powder coat as they cut into the salt-spray finish.
Drop a touch of light machine oil into the lock cylinder and on the three-point bolt set once a term to keep the key turn smooth.
Check Hettich hinges and runners once a year and tighten the carcass screws on credenzas. Soft-close dampers can be swapped without removing the door.
Clean HPL compact panel lockers in changing rooms with a mild non-abrasive detergent and rinse off chlorine residue. Avoid leaving wet kit pressed against the door rebate for long stretches.
