Zumax builds auditorium chairs for Indian colleges, schools, corporate training centres and performing-arts venues, and we build them by the row. Founded in 2008, we run a 60,000 sq.ft workshop in Greater Noida where every chair is cut, welded, foamed and upholstered in-house. Upholstery is IS 15768 fire-retardant fabric. Cushions use 35 kg/m3 cold-cure moulded foam that holds shape across a full academic calendar of fests, convocations and guest lectures. We site-survey, draw the seating plan against your AutoCAD, manufacture in Greater Noida, and install with our own crews across Delhi NCR. Outside NCR, Zumax-supervised partner crews handle install and freight is billed as actuals.

Frame welding, powder coating, foam moulding and upholstery all happen on the same shop floor. No outsourced sub-assemblies, no white-labelled imported chairs rebadged as ours.
IS 15768 fabric, Hettich pivots, AkzoNobel paint
Named hardware and finishes on every row — IS 15768 fire-retardant upholstery, Hettich tip-up and tablet pivots, Paramount or AkzoNobel powder coat. The bill of materials matches the brochure.
2-year manufacturing-defect warranty
Flat 2-year cover on frame, tip-up mechanism, fabric and foam, with re-upholstery service from year 5 onwards on soft seating. Workmanship on install is covered for 10 years.
NCR own crew, 100-hour salt-spray frames
In-house install crew on payroll across Delhi NCR, with Zumax-supervised partner crews outside NCR and a site lead from us on larger projects. Every frame is salt-spray tested to 100 hours before it leaves the plant.
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified
The plant is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, with GreenGuard and FSC documentation available on relevant lines. GeM, BIS and BIFMA paperwork is shared with bulk procurement teams on request.

2. Free site survey + laser measure
Our surveyor visits with a laser distance meter, tablet and the IS 15768 fabric and powder-coat swatch set. We capture floor levels, riser depths, column positions and existing anchor points so the seating plan accounts for what is actually on site.

3. Free 2D / 3D seating layout in 5 working days
The in-house CAD studio drafts a row-by-row plan against your AutoCAD, runs a sightline check, validates aisle clearance to NBC 2016 Part 4, and returns a punched floor-anchor template for your civil contractor.

4. Written quote in 24-48 hours
One PO covers manufacture, freight, install, floor anchors and seat-number engraving. Quotes for outside NCR list freight and partner-crew install as actuals so there are no surprise add-ons later.

5. 15-day build at our 60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop
Frames are cut from tubular steel, powder-coated in Paramount or AkzoNobel and salt-spray tested. Foam is moulded in-house at 35 kg/m3 cold-cure density. Upholstery and final assembly happen on the same shop floor, with founders walking the line weekly.

6. In-house Zumax crew installs (NCR)
Our own payroll crew anchors the rows, sets seat numbers and hands over the hall in Delhi NCR. Outside NCR, a Zumax-supervised partner crew handles install with a Zumax site lead on bigger projects, all under a 10-year workmanship cover.
What goes into a Zumax auditorium chair
- IS 15768 fire-retardant upholstery
- Every seat and back panel is upholstered in IS 15768-grade fire-retardant fabric sourced through certified mills. This is the actual standard called out by the BIS Quality Control Order for non-domestic furniture, and Zumax has been spec'ing to it for years.
- 35 kg/m3 cold-cure moulded foam
- Cushions are built on 35 kg/m3 cold-cure moulded polyurethane foam, density verified on every batch. Cold-cure moulding holds shape across a full academic calendar of fests, convocations and guest lectures instead of flattening out by year two.
- Tubular steel frame, 100-hour salt-spray powder coat
- Frames are welded from tubular steel and finished in Paramount or AkzoNobel powder coat, salt-spray tested to 100 hours. Colour is matched to RAL or to your institution's brand pantone at no extra design fee.
- Hettich pivot hardware on tip-up and tablet arms
- The auto tip-up seat and the fold-out tablet arm both run on Hettich pivot hardware so the action stays quiet through a live lecture or performance. The same Hettich line covers some of our office storage runners, so the spares pipeline is already mature.
- Wooden armrests and side panels
- Solid timber armrests and wooden side caps are an optional spec for performing-arts auditoriums and conference halls. Veneer is sourced from Bhutan Tuff on the executive trims, with PU lacquer finish matched to the laminate and powder coat.
- Floor-anchor system drawn to AutoCAD
- Each row ships with a punched floor-anchor template drawn against your seating plan, so the civil contractor pre-drills exactly where the chairs land. The template accounts for NBC 2016 Part 4 aisle clearance and the 1,000 mm row pitch we recommend for Indian institutional halls.

How are Zumax auditorium chairs quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on row count, model choice, upholstery spec and install city. Send us the AutoCAD or PDF of the hall along with seat count and our Business Coordinator Team will revert with a written quote within 24-48 hours. Quotes include floor anchors and on-site install for NCR; outside NCR, freight and install are billed as actuals.
Is the upholstery fire-retardant? What's the standard?
Yes. All seat and back fabric meets IS 15768 for fire-retardant upholstery on non-domestic furniture. Zumax has been spec'ing to it for years, so the recent BIS Quality Control Order on non-domestic furniture did not change our build.
Push back, tip up, or fixed — which auditorium chair should we pick?
Fixed seats work for college lecture halls and assembly spaces. Auto tip-up is the call for any row deeper than eight seats, because it keeps the egress aisle clear. Push-back belongs in performing-arts auditoriums and corporate training centres where audiences sit longer than 90 minutes. Send us the row depth and use case and we will spec the right one.
Do Zumax auditorium chairs come with a writing pad?
Yes. Fold-out wooden or laminate tablet arms are an add-on across all four base models. We use Hettich pivot hardware so the arm folds quietly during a live event. Tablet sizing is A4 plus a 100 mm clear margin for a laptop.
What's the warranty?
Two years on manufacturing defects across frame, tip-up mechanism, fabric and foam. Re-upholstery service is available from year 5 onwards on soft seating. Replacement cushions and matching fabric rolls are kept in stock at our Greater Noida workshop so a chair damaged later in life still gets the same shade back.
Do you handle the seating layout and floor-anchor drawings?
Yes. Send the AutoCAD or PDF of the hall. We return a row-by-row seating plan, a sightline check, aisle clearance against NBC 2016 Part 4, and a punched floor-anchor template that your civil contractor can use directly. The 2D/3D layout is delivered within 5 working days of the survey.
How many seats can we fit in 1,000 sq ft?
Roughly 90-120 chairs in 1,000 sq ft once you hold a 525 mm seat width, a 1,000 mm row pitch and a 1,200 mm centre aisle. Drop us your floor plan and we will run an accurate count. Empty corners, columns and stage frontage almost always shift the number by 10-15%.
Can we get auditorium chairs in our institution's colours?
Yes. Fabric is picked from the IS 15768 swatch range at our Experience Center, which holds 200+ swatches across upholstery, laminate and powder coat. Powder-coat colour is matched to RAL or to your institution's brand pantone. Minimum order to trigger a custom fabric weave is 200 seats. Below that, we work from the stock palette.
How long is the lead time and do you install across India?
Bulk auditorium orders ship in 15 days from order confirmation, with Tier-2 cities adding 2-3 days for crew mobilisation. Install in Delhi NCR is handled by our own crew with free delivery and assembly. Outside NCR, Zumax-supervised partner crews handle the install and freight is billed as actuals.
How do we clean and maintain auditorium upholstery?
Dry vacuum weekly, spot-clean monthly with a 1:10 mild detergent solution, and book a professional foam-extraction clean every 12 months. Do not use steam on the fire-retardant fabric, as it strips the coating. Looking after your Zumax auditorium chairs
Dry vacuum the upholstery weekly to lift dust and grit before it grinds into the fibre.
Spot-clean monthly with a 1:10 mild detergent solution and a clean white cloth, blotting from the outside in.
Do not use steam or harsh solvents on the IS 15768 fabric — heat and aggressive cleaners strip the fire-retardant coating.
Book a professional foam-extraction clean every 12 months to keep the cold-cure foam from holding moisture in monsoon months.
Lubricate the tip-up pivot and tablet-arm hardware once a year with a light silicone spray, and tighten floor anchors at the end of every academic year.
