We powder-coat the frame at our 60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop using Paramount or AkzoNobel paint, tested to 100-hour salt-spray. Seats come in moulded polypropylene, perforated poly, or moulded plywood, depending on the grade group. - The top is real high-pressure laminate from Marino, Greenlam, or Royal Touch, EN 438 and IS 2046 compliant. The anti-microbial layer sits on the contact surface to handle classroom hygiene loads, and it wipes clean with a damp cloth without abrasive cleaners.
- 18-gauge CRCA mild-steel frame
- The chassis is welded from 18-gauge cold-rolled mild steel, then powder-coated with Paramount or AkzoNobel paint and tested to 100-hour salt-spray at our Greater Noida plant. The frame is rated for daily classroom load cycles and won't sag at the cross-member after a term.
- NIB-sized seat heights — 380 / 430 / 460 mm
- Frame heights are set to NIB seat-height bands for primary (Class 1-5), secondary (Class 6-10), and senior (Class 11-12) students. We ship all three bands on the same SKU frame, so a K-12 campus gets a single visual language across blocks.
- Seat material — moulded poly, perforated poly, or moulded plywood
- Seats come in three configurations: moulded polypropylene for primary, perforated polypropylene for senior, and 12 mm moulded plywood for the entry-level Vidya bench. Edges are rounded so there are no sharp corners at the knee or thigh.
- Anti-skid feet + welded cross-member
- Each leg ends in a rubberised anti-skid foot to protect tiled or vitrified flooring and kill the dragged-chair squeal during exam season. The cross-member is welded, not bolted, so there's no rattle at week 20 of the academic year.
- Custom colour, branding, and core options
- Standard laminate finishes are beech, grey, and walnut, bonded to a pre-laminated particle-board or MDF core. School logos can be screen-printed or laser-etched onto the side panel on orders of 100+ units, with powder-coat colours from the RAL chart.

What is the standard size of a two-seater student table and chair for Indian schools?
For a two-seater paired desk, the standard top size is 1100-1200 mm wide by 450 mm deep. Seat heights follow NIB / IS bands: 380 mm for primary (Class 1-5), 430 mm for secondary (Class 6-10), and 460 mm for senior (Class 11-12). Zumax ships all three height bands on the same SKU frame.
How are Zumax student desks and chairs quoted for schools?

Are Zumax student tables and chairs NIB-compliant?
Yes. Every paired desk is sized to NIB / IS seat-height bands for primary, secondary, and senior students. Confirm the grade group at enquiry stage and we set the frame height accordingly. Mixed-height orders for K-12 campuses are routine for us.
What is the warranty on a Zumax student desk?
Two years on manufacturing defects, covering frame welds and laminate adhesion under normal classroom use. The powder-coat finish is warranted against peeling and bubbling under the same window. Wear and tear on moulded poly seats from misuse (standing on, kicking) is excluded.
Do you supply student desks in bulk for CBSE and ICSE schools?
Yes. We supply CBSE, ICSE, and state-board schools across India. Delhi NCR orders are delivered and installed by our own crew at no extra cost. Outside NCR, dispatch is via third-party logistics billed as actuals, with Zumax-supervised install. Bulk orders can be phased in waves matched to your academic calendar or move-in date.

Looking after your Zumax student table and chair
Wipe the HPL top weekly with a damp cloth and a mild soap solution. Skip abrasive scouring pads, thinners, and acid-based bathroom cleaners — they damage the anti-microbial layer.
Tighten the visible chair-to-desk fixings once a term. Welded joints are maintenance-free, but the seat-to-frame bolts can loosen after heavy daily use.
Lift desks rather than dragging them when re-arranging classrooms. The anti-skid feet protect the floor, but consistent dragging across grit can wear them through.
Clean moulded poly or perforated poly seats with a damp microfibre cloth. Permanent marker comes off with isopropyl alcohol on a soft rag — do not use thinner.
Touch up small powder-coat chips with the matched RAL-code aerosol we supply on bulk orders. Report frame weld or laminate-adhesion issues to the Business Coordinator Team during the 2-year warranty window.
