What goes into a Zumax classroom desk
- 18-gauge CRCA steel sub-frame
- Uprights, cross-rails, and seat brackets are MIG-welded from 18-gauge cold-rolled close-annealed steel. Welded, not bolted, so the chassis stays square through ten years of mop water, dragged chairs, and Class-7 boys.
- 100-hour salt-spray powder coat
- Frame is degreased, phosphated, then powder-coated in Paramount or AkzoNobel paint and oven-cured. The finish is tested to 100 hours salt-spray, which is what you want in coastal campuses and humid Lucknow summers.
- Anti-microbial HPL writing top
- Tops are real anti-microbial HPL from Marino, Greenlam, or Royal Touch, conforming to EN 438 / IS 2046. Post-formed edges so there is no exposed band for students to pick at, and a wipeable surface that handles neutral detergent every Saturday.
- Hettich runners on storage flips
- Flip-top desks and under-desk lockers use Hettich runners and hinges, with Salice or Grass on some lines. Lever lock and bolt sets on storage flips are sourced from Hafele or Ebco.
- Saint-Gobain tempered glass on display fronts
- Where a classroom display unit or notice board needs glass, we use Saint-Gobain or AIS tempered glass. Edges are polished and seated in a powder-coated channel, not raw against MS.
- BWP plywood + laminate on seat decks
- Attached plywood seats on Vidya and Saksham use Greenply or Century BWP plywood, faced with laminate. Moulded PP seats on the Nexa line are injection-moulded virgin polypropylene, not recycled bin-grade plastic.

What are the standard sizes for classroom desks in India?
Indian classroom desks follow NIB seat-height marks. 30 cm for LKG to Class 2, 34 cm for Class 3 to Class 7, and 38 cm for Class 8 onwards. Writing surface height is set proportionally at roughly 55, 63, and 71 cm. Every Zumax two-seater paired desk and cluster table is built to these marks. Specify the class band when you raise the PO.
How are Zumax classroom desks quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on top material, frame gauge, seat type (moulded PP vs plywood vs upholstered), and order volume. Send the class bands, unit count, and delivery city and we will revert with a written quote within 24 to 48 hours. Free delivery and install apply inside Delhi NCR. Outside NCR, partner crews handle install under Zumax supervision and logistics are billed as actuals.
What standards does Zumax classroom furniture meet?

Do you make classroom furniture for CBSE and ICSE schools?
Yes. We have fitted out classrooms for CBSE, ICSE, IB, and state-board schools. Layout, seat-height marks, and finish are specified to the board's recommended room density, which is usually 1.0 sqm per student for CBSE primary and 1.2 sqm for senior.
What is the lead time for a bulk classroom furniture order?
Standard lead time on bulk classroom orders of 50+ units is 15 days from order confirmation. Tier-2 delivery adds 2 to 3 days on top. A written quote comes back in 24 to 48 hours, and 2D / 3D layout drawings land within 5 working days of the site survey. Larger campus-scale orders are phased so blocks come online in the order your contractor needs them.
Do classroom desks come with attached chairs or separate seating?
Both options ship from Zumax. Our paired two-seater range has attached moulded plywood or polypropylene seats welded to the chassis, which is what you want for fixed-row classrooms. For activity rooms and senior-school classrooms that re-stage often, we ship cluster tables and stand-alone desks paired with mesh-back chairs or stacking PP chairs separately.
What warranty do you offer on classroom furniture?

Are cluster tables suitable for NEP 2020 active-learning classrooms?
Yes. Our hexagonal, octagonal, and diamond cluster tables are specified for NEP 2020 experiential-learning blocks. They seat 6 to 12 students, optionally include a central tech-integration hub for tablets and HDMI runs, and pair with stacking PP chairs so the room can flip to lecture mode. Foundational, preparatory, and middle-stage classrooms typically use the 8-seat hexagonal format.

Looking after your Zumax classroom desks
Wipe writing tops with a neutral detergent and a soft cloth at the end of every school day. Skip the abrasive scouring pads and bleach; anti-microbial HPL does not need them and they dull the post-formed edge.
Lubricate flip-top hinges and storage runners with a single drop of light machine oil once a term. Hettich runners last the life of the desk if you keep dust out of the channel.
Touch up powder-coat chips with the matching aerosol pack we ship with bulk orders. Catch them early and the frame stays salt-spray sound through the warranty.
Check anti-skid PP feet at the end of each term. Mop water and floor polish build-up reduce the grip; pop the feet off, wash, and clip back on.
Re-tighten any visible MIG-welded brackets only via the Zumax service team; field-tightened bolts on a welded chassis usually mean a deeper issue worth a 48-hour AMC call-out.
