Frames are 18-gauge CRCA cold-rolled steel in 60x40mm tube, powder-coated with Paramount or AkzoNobel paint and 100-hour salt-spray tested. Drawer hardware is Hettich. Plumbing is PP and CPVC. Wall-mounted benches, island workbenches, sink units and reagent racks are made to your lab layout at our 60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop. Own install crews handle Delhi NCR. 60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop
Every bench, sink unit and reagent rack is built in-house at our 60,000 sq.ft workshop in Ecotech III, Greater Noida. No outsourced sub-assemblies. No white-labelled imports. Founders walk the shop floor weekly.
Named hardware and finishes
Hettich drawer slides and hinges, Hafele or Ebco locks, Paramount or AkzoNobel powder coat, Saint-Gobain or AIS tempered glass on reagent racks. The bill of materials names every supplier so the lab in-charge can verify on receipt.
2-year defect cover, 10-year workmanship
Lab benches carry a 2-year warranty on manufacturing defects, covering the MS frame, powder-coat finish, drawer slides and plumbing fittings. Workmanship cover on the install runs 10 years.
100-hour salt-spray and IS 4837
Powder coat on every CRCA frame is 100-hour salt-spray tested for damp-lab service. Benches reference IS 4837 as the standard for laboratory furniture, and laminate work runs to EN 438 and IS 2046. Test references go out with the quote on request.

The Greater Noida workshop is certified to ISO 9001 quality management and ISO 14001 environmental management. GreenGuard and FSC certifications apply on relevant lines and are shared with procurement teams alongside the quote.

1. Free 30-minute planning call
The Business Coordinator Team takes a half-hour call with the lab in-charge or procurement lead to map out room count, bench types, sink positions and whether gas cocks, eye-wash bottles or fume hoods are in scope.

2. Free site survey and laser measure
A Zumax surveyor visits with a laser distance meter and tablet, marks gas, water and drainage points, and notes electrical drops. No survey fee anywhere in NCR. Outside NCR the survey is billed at actuals.

3. Free 2D / 3D CAD layout in 5 working days
Our in-house CAD studio returns a layout with bench schedule, sink positions and reagent-rack heights drawn to your lab plan. No design fee. Revisions are folded in until you sign off.

4. Written quote in 24 to 48 hours
Once the layout is signed, you get a written quote with the full bill of materials, plumbing scope and install scope, separated by NCR own-crew install or outside-NCR partner-crew supervision.

5. 15-day build at our Greater Noida workshop
Build runs 15 days from order confirmation, subject to site readiness on electrical and plumbing. Tier-2 city deliveries add 2 to 3 days. The wet-area benches can be phased ahead of dry benches to match civil work.

6. Install and 10-year workmanship cover
In NCR, plumbing, gas-cock fit-up and snag-list closure are handled by Zumax fitters on payroll. Outside NCR, a Zumax-supervised partner crew runs the fit-up. Workmanship cover on the install is 10 years.
What goes into a Zumax lab bench
- Chemical-resistant worktop
- Tops are specified for wet-bench duty and engineered to handle dilute mineral acids, alkalis and common organic solvents at school-lab concentrations. For heavy-acid college and research labs a thicker chemical-resistant top is offered on request, quoted with the order.
- 18-gauge CRCA MS frame
- Sub-structure is 60x40mm 18-gauge CRCA cold-rolled steel tube, the same gauge we use on our steel almirah body. Powder-coat finish is Paramount or AkzoNobel paint, 100-hour salt-spray tested for damp lab environments.
- Hettich drawer slides and hinges
- Every under-bench drawer unit runs on Hettich Quadro soft-close slides rated to 30 kg dynamic load. Cabinet hinges are Hettich. Locks on reagent and chemical-storage units are sourced from Hafele or Ebco. No unbranded equivalents make it to the bill of materials.
- PP sink and bottle-trap plumbing
- Standard sink is moulded polypropylene with a PP bottle trap and CPVC drain line, set into a recessed granite collar so water cannot creep under the worktop. Stainless steel 304-grade sinks are an option for biology and food-science labs.
- Anti-microbial laminate cabinet shells
- Storage carcasses and reagent-rack shells use anti-microbial HPL from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch (your choice on the order), conforming to EN 438 and IS 2046. The same supplier set runs across our classroom desks.
- Tempered glass and reagent-rack shelves
- Where the lab plan calls for glass shelves on reagent racks or display cabinets, the glass is Saint-Gobain or AIS tempered. Edges are polished, corners are radiused, and the back rail is bolted into the powder-coated CRCA frame, not screwed into the laminate.

How are Zumax school chemistry lab benches quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on bench length, sink count, reagent racks and whether gas cocks and 16A sockets are factory-fitted. Send the room drawing or rough dimensions and the Business Coordinator Team will revert with a written quote in 24 to 48 hours, along with the CAD layout for sign-off.
Which countertop do you supply for a chemistry lab bench?
For a normal school or college chemistry lab we supply a chemical-resistant top engineered for dilute mineral acids, alkalis and common organic solvents. It does not chip at the sink cut-out the way granite does. For heavy-acid research labs we offer a thicker chemical-resistant top on request. Most lab tables in market are office desks that delaminate at the edge band by year three. Ours are built around the wet bench from day one.
Which IS standards do Zumax lab benches reference?
Lab benches reference IS 4837 as the standard for laboratory furniture. Laminate work uses EN 438 and IS 2046. The workshop runs to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Test references and BIS documents are shared with bulk procurement teams on request alongside the quote.

Can you make a custom-size lab island bench?
Yes, every lab bench is made to order. Send a room drawing or rough dimensions and we will return a CAD layout with bench lengths, sink positions, reagent-rack heights and a written quote in 24 to 48 hours, with the full 2D or 3D layout in 5 working days. Standard island bench widths are 1500mm and 1800mm. Lengths run from 2400mm to 4800mm.
What sink material do you use on lab benches?
Standard fit is a moulded polypropylene sink with a PP bottle trap and CPVC drain, set into a recessed granite collar so water cannot creep under the countertop. Stainless steel 304-grade sinks are available for biology and food-science labs where acid resistance is not the priority.
Do the lab benches come with reagent racks and gas cocks fitted?
Yes if you specify them on the order. Reagent racks, brass gas cocks (LPG or piped gas), pillar taps, eye-wash bottles and 16A power sockets are factory-fitted at our Greater Noida workshop, not retrofitted on site. This cuts the leak risk that comes with site-drilled service holes.
What is the lead time for a school chemistry lab fit-out?
Standard lead time is 15 days from order confirmation, subject to site readiness on electrical and plumbing. Tier-2 city deliveries add 2 to 3 days on top. The written quote turns around in 24 to 48 hours. The 2D or 3D layout follows in 5 working days after the site survey. We can phase delivery to match civil work, with the wet area going in first.
What warranty do you offer on lab furniture?
2 years on manufacturing defects on the lab benches, including the MS frame, powder-coat finish, drawer slides and plumbing fittings. Workmanship cover on the install runs 10 years. The warranty does not extend to student-caused acid burns, knife cuts or impact damage on the worktop.
Do you supply fume hoods along with lab benches?
Yes. Bench-mounted fume hoods with PP body, polycarbonate sash and centrifugal blower are available. Ductwork and exhaust routing are quoted as a separate scope. Send the lab drawing to works@zumax.in or WhatsApp 8448186120 and the Business Coordinator Team will revert with the layout and quote.
Looking after your Zumax lab bench
Wipe down the worktop with a damp cloth and a neutral pH cleaner at the end of every practical. Skip abrasive scouring pads and chlorinated bleach, both of which dull the chemical-resistant top over time.
Spilled acid or alkali should be diluted with water and mopped up within five minutes. The top resists splash exposure, not standing pools.
Lubricate Hettich drawer slides with a light dry lubricant once every six months. Avoid WD-40 or wet oil, both of which collect dust and gum the runner.
Check PP bottle traps and CPVC drain joints every quarter for tightness, especially in labs that share a drain stack with a science prep room. The Zumax AMC covers this on a quarterly visit if you sign up.
Touch up minor powder-coat chips with the colour-matched touch-up paint shipped in the handover kit. Larger scratches are covered under the 2-year manufacturing defect warranty.
