A peninsula kitchen is what you build when your open-plan flat cannot spare the 1100 mm walkway on all four sides that a true island demands. Zumax has been building modular kitchens since 2008, and we deliver the peninsula format as a U-shape or L-shape with a fourth run anchored to one wall, usually carrying the hob or sink, and ending in a breakfast-bar overhang facing the living room. Each peninsula kitchen design is sized to your wall, fitted with Hettich soft-close hardware (Salice, Grass or Blum on select lines), and finished in quartz, granite or marble sourced through Hafele's stone partner network. You see the 3D layout, approve the cabinet count, pick the splashback, and only then do we cut a single board. Lead time from order confirmation to installed is 15 days, subject to site readiness on electrical and plumbing.

An NCR surveyor arrives with a laser distance meter, tablet and material samples, captures the wall lines, checks electrical and plumbing routes, and confirms the diagonal walkway. Outside NCR, a Zumax-supervised partner team runs the same drill.

Our in-house CAD studio sends a cabinet plan, elevations and a finish board. Pick the worktop between quartz, granite or marble, lock the shutter finish, and finalise the appliance bays.

What goes into a Zumax peninsula kitchen
- BWP plywood carcass
- Every cabinet box is built in BWP marine-grade plywood from Greenply or Century. The grade is rated for the moisture cycles a working Indian kitchen sees through monsoon and summer, and it holds screw and dowel pull-out far better than MDF.
- Hettich soft-close hardware
- Hinges, drawer runners and lift-up overhead fittings come from Hettich as the primary line, with Salice, Grass or Blum specified on select higher-spec runs. Pull-outs and tall larders are drawn from the Hettich Cargo range.
- Anti-microbial laminate shutters
- Default shutter face is anti-microbial laminate from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch, conforming to EN 438 / IS 2046. Step-up finishes include lacquer, PU paint, or walnut veneer from Bhutan Tuff.
- Quartz, granite or marble worktop
- Stone is sourced through Hafele's partner stone yard. Quartz is the default for its non-porous, stain-resistant behaviour against turmeric and tomato. Granite is the value pick. Marble is offered where a specific vein is the brief, with the maintenance trade-off called out.
- Tempered glass on overheads and splashbacks
- Where glass shutters or back-painted splashbacks are specified, the glass is tempered Saint-Gobain or AIS. Both meet IS 2553 for safety glass in residential interiors.
- Locks and concealed catches
- Where locks are needed on tall larders or service drawers, the lever lock and bolt set is sourced from Hafele or Ebco. No generic catalogue hardware on lockable units.

What is a peninsula kitchen and how is it different from an island?
A peninsula kitchen is a U-shape or L-shape modular layout with one run anchored to a wall at one end and open on the other, instead of free-standing on all four sides like an island. You get the same breakfast-bar seating and the same extra worktop without needing the 1.0-1.2 m clear floor on every face that an island requires. That is why it suits most 2 and 3 BHK flats.
Will a peninsula kitchen fit in my small flat?
In most cases, yes. Peninsulas work in kitchen footprints as narrow as 2.7 m, where an island will not fit. The deciding factor is the diagonal walkway between the peninsula and the opposite cabinet run. Zumax sizes that to a minimum 900 mm during the site survey, with 1050 mm preferred for two-cook households.
How are Zumax peninsula kitchens quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on cabinet count, worktop choice between quartz, granite and marble, shutter finish, and the appliance package. Hettich is our primary hardware, with Salice, Grass or Blum on select lines. Locks where applicable are Hafele or Ebco. Carcass is BWP plywood from Greenply or Century. The kitchen carries a 10-year warranty, and our workmanship cover on the install runs for 10 years.
How long does a peninsula kitchen take from order to install?
15 days from order confirmation to fully installed, subject to site readiness on electrical and plumbing. Tier-2 locations add 2-3 days. Delivery and installation inside Delhi NCR are handled by our in-house crew at no charge; outside NCR, install is handled by Zumax-supervised partner crews and logistics are billed as actuals.
Can the peninsula carry the hob, sink, or just a breakfast bar?
All three are possible. A hob on the peninsula needs a downdraft extractor or an island-style chimney rated for the BTU output of your burner. A sink needs a plumbing chase routed through the floor during civil work. If neither is feasible, the peninsula stays as a prep counter plus breakfast bar.
Do you deliver and install outside Delhi NCR?
Yes. Zumax manufactures in our 60,000 sq.ft workshop in Greater Noida. Inside Delhi NCR, delivery and on-site assembly are free and handled by our in-house crew on payroll. What worktop is best for a peninsula in an Indian kitchen?
Quartz is the default for most peninsula kitchens. It is non-porous, stain-resistant against turmeric and tomato, and forgiving of a 1200 mm overhang on the breakfast-bar end. Granite is the value pick. Marble is offered for clients who want a particular vein and accept the maintenance that comes with it. All three are sourced through Hafele's stone partner network.

Yes. Every peninsula kitchen order starts with a free on-site survey, a 2D and 3D layout with elevations within 5 working days, a material sample pack drawn from the 200+ swatches at our Experience Center, and a line-itemised BOQ. There is no design fee, and nothing is binding until you sign off. Looking after your Zumax peninsula kitchen
Wipe shutter faces and worktops down with a damp microfibre and a mild dish-soap solution. Avoid abrasive scouring pads and any bleach-based cleaner on laminate or quartz.
Seal the silicone joint between the worktop and the splashback every 18-24 months. This is the most common point of water ingress in an Indian kitchen.
Lubricate Hettich drawer runners and hinges with a light silicone spray once a year. Do not use cooking oil or WD-40 on soft-close mechanisms.
For granite or marble worktops, reseal the stone annually. Quartz does not need sealing but should not see direct contact with a hot pan, use a trivet.
Schedule an AMC visit through the Business Coordinator Team if a hinge starts to sag or a runner loses its soft-close. Quarterly visits and 48-hour SLA on call-outs are available.
