A wooden door wardrobe is the version of luxury wardrobes that still reads like furniture. Solid faces, visible grain, hinges you can feel. Zumax has been building hinged wooden wardrobes around real walls since 2008. The carcass is BWP plywood with laminate, Hettich concealed hinges come as standard, and the front is your call: walnut veneer sourced from Bhutan Tuff, oak, charcoal laminate, dual-tone beige or chevron-cut wood. Interiors are drawn around your real hanging, folding and shoe split, with door-sensor LED strips wired in from the start. We build to order in our 60,000 sq.ft Greater Noida workshop. Our own installation crew handles fitting across Delhi NCR. Outside NCR, Zumax-supervised partner crews take the install, billed as actuals.

Our surveyor arrives anywhere in Delhi NCR with a laser distance meter, tablet and a kit of laminate and veneer samples from Marino, Greenlam, Royal Touch and Bhutan Tuff. Walls, skirting, beam drops and electrical points are all logged.

Free 2D / 3D layout in 5 working days
The in-house CAD studio (3 designers on payroll) draws the wardrobe to your actual hanging, fold, drawer and shoe split. You see the interior block-by-block before anything is cut.

What goes into a Zumax wooden door wardrobe
- BWP plywood carcass
- 18mm BWP-grade plywood from Greenply or Century forms the carcass. BWP means boiling-water-proof glue line, which is what you want for a Delhi summer or a coastal monsoon. Every panel is edge-banded on all six sides to stop moisture wicking in at the cut edge.
- Hettich hinges and runners
- Hettich 110-degree concealed hinges with integrated soft-close are the default across the wooden door range. Salice, Grass or Blum are specified on specific lines. Drawer runners on the same lines so the wardrobe stays mechanically consistent for the long haul.
- Bhutan Tuff veneer fronts
- Natural veneer doors are sourced from Bhutan Tuff in walnut, oak and teak, laid over MDF and PU-coated on both faces. PU on both faces is the bit that stops bowing with seasonal moisture. Fluted, chevron and book-matched cuts available.
- Anti-microbial HPL shutters
- Laminate fronts use high-pressure laminate to EN 438 / IS 2046 from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch. The same suppliers carry the anti-microbial sheet, useful for kids' rooms and shared bedrooms.
- Hafele or Ebco lock set
- Where a lock is specified, the lever lock and bolt set is sourced from Hafele or Ebco. Brass or matte-black handles can be fitted to your spec at the same stage.
- Integrated LED
- Door-sensor LED strips are wired into the carcass at the workshop, not stuck on with adhesive after install. Drivers are housed in a serviceable position so a replacement is a 10-minute job, not a re-build.

Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on width, height, finish (laminate vs. natural veneer) and interior accessories. Is a hinged wooden wardrobe better than a sliding wardrobe?
Hinged doors open fully, so you see the entire interior in one motion. They also let you carry texture like fluted walnut or chevron-cut oak across the front in a way sliding panels can't. You do need at least 60cm of clearance in front of each door. Sliding works better for narrow bedrooms. Hinged works better almost everywhere else.
Which wood is used in Zumax wooden door wardrobes?
The carcass is BWP plywood with laminate. Doors are either natural veneer (walnut, oak, teak) sourced from Bhutan Tuff over MDF, or a high-pressure laminate front from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch. Edges are banded on all six sides to protect against monsoon humidity.
What hardware do you use for the hinges?
Hettich 110-degree concealed hinges with integrated soft-close are the default. Salice, Grass or Blum are run on specific lines. Locks, where fitted, come from Hafele or Ebco.
How long does a wooden door wardrobe take to install?
Lead time is 15 days from order confirmation, subject to site readiness (paint and electrical). The 2D / 3D layout lands within 5 working days of the site survey. Tier-2 cities add 2 to 3 days on top. The installation itself is a one-day job for most hinged builds.
Do you deliver wooden wardrobes outside Delhi NCR?
Free delivery and installation by our own in-house crew is within Delhi NCR only — Greater Noida, Noida, Gurgaon, Delhi and Faridabad. Outside NCR, the install is handled by Zumax-supervised partner crews and logistics is third-party, billed as actuals. A Zumax site lead joins on bigger projects.
Can the interior be customised — drawers, shoe shelves, tie pull-outs?
Yes, that's the default. Hanging zones, drawer banks, shoe shelves, tie and trouser pull-outs, jewellery trays and pull-out laundry baskets are mapped to your wardrobe audit before the workshop builds. Interior layout is drawn as part of the standard scope by our in-house CAD studio. No design fee.
What warranty do I get on a wooden door wardrobe?
10 years on the wardrobe, plus a 10-year workmanship cover on installation. Replacement parts are stocked at the Greater Noida workshop and ship within 7 working days.
How is a wooden door wardrobe different from an off-the-shelf almirah?
A catalogue almirah is a finished steel box sold off the shelf, like an alternative to a Godrej Slimline 3-door almirah. A Zumax wooden door wardrobe is built to your wall in modular sections, with wood or laminate fronts, integrated LED and a custom interior. It sits flush with the wall, hides ceiling and skirting gaps, and runs on Hettich hardware rather than a fixed steel hinge.
Is engineered wood safe for a humid Indian climate?
Yes, when it's specified correctly. We use BWP-grade plywood for the carcass and seal every edge with PVC banding rather than leaving raw MDF exposed. Veneer doors from Bhutan Tuff are PU-coated on both faces so they don't bow with seasonal moisture.
Looking after your Zumax wooden door wardrobe
Wipe veneer and laminate fronts down with a soft, slightly damp cotton cloth. Skip abrasive scrubbers, scotch-brite pads and ammonia-based glass cleaners on wood surfaces.
Run a drop of clear hardware lubricant on the Hettich hinge cams once a year. Soft-close stays smoother for longer and the doors don't develop a creak.
Don't park heavy or wet items directly against the shutter back. Hang damp clothing on the rail until dry to keep moisture off the laminate edges.
Check the LED door sensor every six months. If a strip flickers, the driver is the first thing to swap — replacement parts are stocked at the Greater Noida workshop and ship within 7 working days.
For veneer doors, a yearly coat of furniture wax keeps the PU film looking deep. Avoid silicone sprays, which leave a residue that's a pain to reverse.
