Flat 2-year defects warranty
Library shelving, reading tables and display cabinets carry a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects on the whole system. Replacement parts are stocked at the Greater Noida workshop and shipped within 7 working days.
NCR crew and 100-hour salt-spray frames
NCR installs are handled by Zumax's own in-house crew, with the steel frame tested to 100-hour salt-spray and shelves sized to IS 1553 deflection limits. Outside NCR is handled by Zumax-supervised partner crews, with a 10-year workmanship cover on the install.
ISO 9001 + 14001 certified workshop
The Greater Noida workshop is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified, with GreenGuard and FSC documentation available on relevant lines. GeM, BIS and BIFMA paperwork is shared with institutional procurement teams running a formal tender.

Install by Zumax crew, single warranty
NCR sites are installed by our own in-house crew with anti-tip wall fixings completed on day one. Outside NCR is handled by Zumax-supervised partner crews. Every install is covered by a 10-year workmanship cover backing the 2-year defects warranty on the library system.
What goes into a Zumax library system
- Steel uprights and stack frame
- 1.6 mm CRCA cold-rolled steel uprights, welded sub-frame on every rack above 1,500 mm. Finished in Paramount or AkzoNobel powder coat and tested to 100-hour salt-spray in-house, so the frame holds up to humid coastal campuses and dusty tier-2 sites.
- Reading-table and counter tops
- 25 mm engineered core finished in anti-microbial HPL sourced from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch. Edges are banded to 2 mm so chair-back scrapes do not lift the laminate by year two, and the laminate itself conforms to EN 438 / IS 2046.
- Veneer option on premium reading tables
- Where the brief calls for a timber look on community reading tables or the circulation desk, we use Bhutan Tuff veneer with a PU lacquer top coat. The veneer is matched across the table run so a 12-foot community top reads as one piece.
- Glass display cabinets
- Front and side panes are 4 mm tempered Saint-Gobain or AIS glass, fitted on Hettich soft-close hinges. The shutter closes flush so dust does not settle on the new-arrival shelf, and the glass is tempered for safety in a student environment.
- Locks and cupboard hardware
- Lockable cabinets at the circulation desk and reference cupboards use a lever lock and bolt set sourced from Hafele or Ebco. Hettich soft-close hinges on the glass doors, standard butt hinges on solid shutters, and adjustable shelf pins on a 32 mm pitch.
- Standards and certifications
- Shelving is sized to IS 1553 with shelves rated for 25 kg per running foot. The workshop runs to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. GeM, BIS and BIFMA documents are shared on request with institutional procurement teams running a formal tender.

What is the standard size of a library book rack in India?
Single-sided library racks are typically 900 mm wide, 300 mm deep and 1,800 to 2,100 mm tall, with shelves adjustable on a 32 mm pitch. Double-sided stack racks run 450 to 500 mm deep. Zumax sizes to IS 1553, the Indian Standard reference for library buildings. We adjust heights for primary-school reading corners (1,200 mm) versus college reference rooms (2,100 mm).
Do you make library furniture for both schools and colleges?
Yes. We have fitted out school reading corners, college reference libraries and university central libraries. Shelf load, sizing and aisle widths are adjusted to user age and book volume. Primary-school shelving caps at 1,500 mm so a Class 4 student can reach the top shelf. College stack rows go to 2,100 mm with anti-tip wall fixings.
How is Zumax library furniture quoted?
Pricing is project-specific and shared after the site survey, since it depends on shelving height, book load, finish, hardware and the total BOQ. Send the floor plan, unit count and finish preference, and our Business Coordinator Team will revert with a written quote within 24 to 48 hours. A 2D / 3D layout follows within 5 working days of the survey. Delivery and on-site install are free within Delhi NCR; outside NCR is handled by partner crews and billed as actuals.
What materials do you use for library shelving and reading tables?
Tall stack shelving uses 1.6 mm CRCA steel uprights with engineered-wood or laminate shelves, finished in Paramount or AkzoNobel powder coat (100-hour salt-spray tested). Reading-table tops are 25 mm engineered core finished in anti-microbial HPL from Marino, Greenlam or Royal Touch, or Bhutan Tuff veneer with PU lacquer if you want the timber look. Display cabinets use 4 mm toughened Saint-Gobain or AIS glass on Hettich soft-close hinges.
Do your library racks meet Indian standards?
Yes. We size shelving to IS 1553 (Design of Library Buildings). Laminates conform to EN 438 / IS 2046. Lockable cabinets use a lever lock and bolt set sourced from Hafele or Ebco. Shelves are rated for 25 kg per running foot of book load, well within IS deflection limits for institutional use. Zumax is also ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified.
Can you supply a complete library — shelving, tables, chairs, circulation counter?
Yes. A typical Zumax library fit-out includes stack shelving, community and individual reading tables, library chairs, glass-door display cabinets, a circulation counter and periodical storage. One PO, one project manager, one warranty. NCR sites are delivered and installed by our own crew; outside NCR is handled by Zumax-supervised partner crews.
What is the lead time for a college library order?
Standard lead time is 15 days from order confirmation for institutional storage and library shelving, including bulk classroom-style orders of 50+ units. Tier-2 city deliveries add 2 to 3 days on top. Summer-break installations are usually booked ahead so handover lands before the new academic session starts.
Do you offer warranty on library furniture?
Yes. Library shelving, reading tables and display cabinets carry a 2-year warranty against manufacturing defects, backed by a 10-year workmanship cover on the install. The warranty is honoured at the institution's site, with replacement parts stocked at our Greater Noida workshop and shipped within 7 working days.
Looking after your Zumax library furniture
Wipe reading-table tops and circulation counters with a damp cloth and mild soap solution. No abrasive scouring pads or thinners on the anti-microbial HPL — they will dull the matt finish.
Dust the steel uprights and shelves with a dry microfibre cloth monthly. For powder-coat marks, a damp cloth lifts most ink and pencil stains without breaking the salt-spray finish.
Lubricate the Hettich soft-close hinges on glass display cabinets and the Hafele or Ebco lever locks on cupboards once a year with a light machine oil — one drop per hinge pin.
Re-check anti-tip wall fixings on tall 1,800 to 2,100 mm racks at the start of every academic year, especially after a shelf reorganisation. Tighten the wall bracket bolts a quarter turn if loose.
For Bhutan Tuff veneer reading tables, dust weekly and re-coat with PU lacquer every 4 to 5 years on heavy-use community tables to keep the timber sealed against ink and spills.
